B i o g r a p h y

Born in Muswell Hill, North London, Lucy has always enjoyed performing a diverse range of musical styles from the standard classical repertoire, to contemporary, folk, world, pop and jazz. Graduate studies took place in London at Middlesex University and the Guildhall School of Music & Drama, with further studies at the prestigious Britten-Pears School for Advanced Musical Studies. As a student, Lucy performed in the Britten-Pears Orchestra, and was Co Leader for British Youth Opera. 

Lucy has performed in numerous orchestras including English National Orchestra, National Chamber Orchestra of Wales, Welsh Chamber Orchestra, Bath Philharmonia, English Symphony Orchestra, London Concert Orchestra, Musical Associates UK Ltd.

Festivals include Bath International Festival, Aldeburgh Festival, Frome Festival, BBC Planet Live, Barbican, South Bank, Welsh Millennium Centre, Tate Modern, Belfast Cathedral, Birmingham City Hall and Wiltshire Music Centre. Also performances in the presence of HRH Prince and Princess Michael of Kent. Studio and Radio work, Classic FM.

Lucy's teachers include Dona Lee Croft, Cynthia Fleming, Gerhard Schmidt and Suzanne Rosza. Traditional Irish Folk Fiddle - Workshops with Matt Cranitch, Siobhan Peoples and Folk sessions in Ireland and Scotland, also gave her further insights into fiddle playing. The techniques learnt from these musical experiences, she incorporate's into her own teaching making lessons inspirational as well as fun.

As a committed teacher, Lucy has had over 20 years experience teaching all ages and levels from beginners to advanced and has a passion for passing on her musical, technical skills and experiences to all her pupils. She has worked as Senior Instrumental Tutor for schools in Bath and has coached Schools Philharmonic Orchestra and String Ensemble as part of the Bath Society of Young Musicians 'Rich string playing, good bow control with real grit to their sound ...an excellent orchestra' comments from Music for Youth Regional Festival Series 2017 SPO. Lucy is an Associate for Wiltshire Music Connect and teaches at Heywood Prep School, Freshford Church School and at her home studio. Her String Ensemble recently won the 'Jennifer Patterson Award' at the Mid-Somerset Festival 2023 for most promising Ensemble.

 

Previous to this she worked for Herts Music Service, Watford School of Music, Camden Music Services, Christchurch School in Hampstead , London and the North London Performing Arts Centre.

 

Lucy is based in Bath and is a Fellow of the Independent Society of Musicians.
